I loved working with the S. Family, they were so kind hearted and they really had a vision for their portrait session. Melissa really wanted to do something special for her daughter’s first birthday portraits. She wanted the portrait session to take place somewhere that meant a great deal to both her and her husband. Melissa told me that as a child her and her husband would come to Ocean Isle Beach every summer for their family vacation, but they never ran into each other until they were older. She even told me they chose to get married at Ocean Isle Beach, so it was the perfect location for their daughters first birthday portraits.

Melissa really wanted to incorporate a fancy chair and balloons into the session to give it a different look. I loved the idea, it was a little challenging getting my chair out onto the beach, but with the help of a fabulous beach dolly, it was a breeze. This session took place at sunrise, which I suggested, so we could get amazing light. It also turns out that the morning time was the ideal time of day that her daughter was in her best mood, so we were really able to get some beautiful shots. I hope you enjoy!

Ocean Isle has an amazing pier, probably the best along the coast of NC. The reason I love it so much is that the whole shoreline is nice and flat and it has rolling sand dunes that span up to the pier. All of that makes for beautiful scenery and endless portrait possibilities.
